To work with VPN on Windows 98 the Microsoft update should be downloaded and installed:
- Dial-Up Networking update version 1.2 and higher: download (2.24 Mb). In some system this update can be already installed.
- Some versions of Windows 98 may require 40-bit encryption update (link to download, 318 Kb)
- 128-bit encryption update: download (328 Kb).
Installing the updates:
1. Doubleclick on msdun13.exe file to start installing the update.
2. Click Yes button to continue.
3. You'll see the window with the license text. Click Yes button to continue..
4. The installation process is starting.
5. To apply changes you have to reboot the PC. Click Yes button to reboot..
6. To make sure thatt the update has been applied successfully, click Start -> Control Panel -> Networking. You should see Dial-up adapter (VPN support) and Microsoft VPN adapter.
